Project 33 Memorial Foundation is proud to announce our 2023 Honoree, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Larry Ismael Rougle. SSG Rougle was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, when he was killed in October 23, 2007, in Sawtalo Sar Mountain, Kunar Province, Afghanistan, from enemy small arms fire.

Utah native SSG Rougle had decided to enlist in the United States Army at the age of 17 in 1999. After September 11, 2001 SSG Rougle began his first combat tour in Afghanistan with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. In six years, Rougle served three combat tours in Iraq and two more in Afghanistan before dying at the age of 25.

SSG Rougle served alongside our founder, Mike in both Iraq and Afghanistan from 2001-2004. Larry's death had a profound impact on Mike, and although they parted ways to serve with other units, SSG Rougle will always be our Airborne Ranger in the sky.

With the blessing of the Rougle family, Project 33 Memorial Foundation will host our 6th Memorial Day run in honor of SSG Rougle. Funds raised during our 2023 campaign will be donated to Labs For Liberty at the request of the family.

6th Annual Memorial Day Run

*May 29, 2023

A Memorial Run from the Town of Hamburg Park (Hamburg Beach) to Hamburg Brewing Company. Total distance of 6.8 Miles. Not a race, just a community run to raise awareness for our fellow Special Operations members who were KIA. The flag will lead the way. Come hang and party with us afterwards at the Brewery for mingling and beer at the Buffalo Blues Veteran’s Benefit.

Only one rule to run with Project 33; the flag represents the fallen, and no runner will pass the flag. Come dressed in your patriotic spirit and bring your endurance
